Research is central to providing the scientific foundation for changes and improvements in health practices and policies. As we embrace the 21st Century, it is incumbent upon us to make a positive difference in women’s health by pursuing a research agenda that will yield new knowledge in women’s health and lead to better health outcomes for BC’s women and families. The WHRI will take a comprehensive approach to women’s health research and support and promote research projects within all “four pillars” of health research. These four pillars, as defined by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, are Biomedical; Clinical; Health Services & Systems; and Social, Cultural, Environmental & Population Health.
By occupying and engaging in research within these four pillars, we are able to support all members of the women’s health research community and to explore a wide variety of funding opportunities. Our research activities will utilize innovative technology and practices to engage participants and investigators who gather the information that matters most to the girls and women of BC.
