The Auxiliary to BC Women's Hospital & Health Centre and the Women's Health Research Institute established two new research awards in 2005 to support work in women's health research. These awards were made possible by funds donated to the Auxiliary through the estates of Grace Barraclough and Doris Winterbottom. The Grace Barraclough Research Award and the Doris Winterbottom Research Award were established in the name of the donors to honour their contribution to the hospital. As a reflection of these generous women’s work both at the hospital and, later, with the Auxiliary, the awards will support research in clinical, biomedical or health services delivery at BC Women's.
Six awards will be granted from 2005-2007 for a total of $100,000. These awards will be administered through the Women's Health Research Institute. The focus of the research must be clinical, biomedical or the delivery of health care services at BC Women's or by BC Women's in the community. Research projects must be directly related to women's health.
