The Acute Perinatal Program Research Coordinator role was created in 2008 in response to recommendations and requests from both hospital and research institute to forge better communication between the areas of clinical practice and academic research.
This position provides the following services to hospital and research staff:
- tracking and maintenance of active research studies through databases and information sharing,
- developing and maintaining resource manuals for clinical studies to be provided on the units,
- information resource on individual studies for hospital staff, and
- assisting hospital management with analysis of study proposal feasibility.
- Ongoing initiatives to improve research integration with hospital operations
- creation and establishment of standard policies dictating research protocols at BCW
- staff and patient research awareness initiatives
- creation of informational/promotional materials for patients
- advisory to research groups in planning study logistics for in-hospital procedures
- specialized support tailored to the needs of individual research groups
